An article in a Montreal newspaper gave us the idea of visiting the city of Portland, Maine, located 450 km southeast of Montreal. We discovered a charming little town that has preserved its historical heritage. It still maintains a very active port, both for fishing and for cruises, and many historical buildings in red brick.

Gorgeous photos! Have never been to the States but if I do this is the sort of area I’d like to visit – looks so charming 🙂
Thanks Rosemary. The East Coast of the US does have some charming old towns. Some are quite old (in North America Standards…)…Glad you enjoyed this series of photos.
Reminds me of my home – Nova Scotia
Thanks Jacqui. Yes, it would remind you of NS. These areas have been settled by the same people around the same time. More pictures coming from our drive along the Coast which will probably remind you again of your home. Glad you enjoyed this series.
I think, we could be neighbours. Best wishes from Germany
Thanks for your note. Glad this series made you think of your own town…
I want to go someday. Portland Oregon has been home for most of my life.
Thanks for your note. I have never been to Portland Oregon so can compare the two cities but this Portland was quite charming.
We spent 2 nights in Portland at the end of a New England trip a few years ago. It was not enough! Great shots.
Thanks Anabel. Glad you enjoyed these photos…more to come. Portland is indeed a very nice town.
How funny – I was in Portland on wednesday en route back home from a trip to Acadia National Park. It is lovely indeed. Quaint, unspoiled and charming. I took no pictures so I’m jolly glad you did!
Thanks Osyth…well we missed each other by a few days. We have to go to the Acadia NP but it is on the list. It is indeed a very charming town.
The spouse has mentioned us traveling to Maine; he’s been and says it’s beautiful
Thanks for your note. I am far from an expert on Maine as this was our first visit but Portland is definively worth a visit and the coast around Portland is quite nice. More pictures in the coming days…
Lovely pics!
Thanks for your note. Glad you enjoyed this series.
