Nous avons parcouru à deux reprises le Sentier du Cap Ferré, situé à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l’est de Havre-Saint-Pierre: par une journée maussade et froide, et par un matin ensoleillé. Lors de notre première visite, la température frôlait seulement les 5C et le vent du large nous donnait le frisson. L’endroit est toutefois très intéressant avec sa végétation naine typique de la taïga, ses fleurs printanières (dryade à feuilles entières et cypripède pubescent) et ses monolithes en calcaire. Il faisait plus chaud lors de notre deuxième visite mais nous étions à marée haute donc nous n’avons pu descendre sur la berge.
We hiked twice the Cape Ferré Trail, located about twenty kilometres east of Havre-Saint-Pierre: on a cloudy and cold day, and on a sunny morning. On our first visit, the temperature was only 5C and the offshore wind chilled us. The place is, however, very interesting with its taiga-like dwarf vegetation, spring flowers (entire-leaf mountain avens and great yellow lady’s-slipper) and limestone monoliths. It was warmer during our second visit but we were at high tide so we couldn’t get down on the shore.

Love the textures, the limestone and especially the orange lichen (I think that’s what you call it?). Also the idea of a cold day as I haven’t stopped sweating in weeks!
Thanks Mel. The cold temperatures are simply a souvenir for us as well. We are getting another heat waves this weekend with very humidity (felt temperatures reaching 40C tomorrow) and the temperatures haven’t gone down below 26C in quite a few weeks.
It has certainly been a very hot summer for a lot of people around the world. And yet, some people are still denying global climate change!!!

Nous avions eu beaucoup de vent nous aussi lors de notre balade sur ce sentier. Nous avions eu un peu froid même s’il faisait soleil. Je ne me souviens plus de la température exacte, mais c’était la journée la moins chaude de notre séjour et nous portions nos manteaux !
Merci Virginie. Il semble qu’il fait toujours un peu frais sur ce sentier. Il vaut toutefois le détour car la végétation et la petite chute sont très belles.
