Pour la deuxième journée de notre séjour au Parc du Mont-Mégantic, nous avons décidé de faire l’ascension du Mont-St-Joseph (9.8km) quoique ce sommet soit aussi accessible en voiture. Cette ascension est assez ardue car elle est très abrupte et le sentier est jonché de roches et de racines. En revanche, il offre de jolies vues sur la plaine avoisinante et les Appalaches situés dans l’État du Maine (USA). Toutefois, la redescente se fait en douceur sur près de 6 km.
For the second day of our stay at Parc du Mont-Mégantic, we decided to climb Mont-St-Joseph (9.8km) although this summit is also accessible by car. This ascent is quite arduous as it is very steep and the trail is covered with rocks and tree roots. On the other hand, it offers pretty views of the neighbouring plain and the Appalachians located in the state of Maine (USA). However, the descent is smooth over nearly 6 km.

Les forêts de votre pays sont superbes et ces photos nous les montrent sous des aspects un peu différents car je ne connais pas à cette saison. J’aime beaucoup les deux dernières photos, la dernière pour la pose longue sur l’eau et la précédente pour la texture du tronc d’arbre. Bonne journée
Merci Marie. Nous avons effectivement de belles forêts quoique pas aussi diversifiées que celles de la France. L’automne est une saison où il est particulièrement agréable de se retrouver en forêt quoiqu’il soit très difficile de prédire l’apogée des couleurs. Cette année, les couleurs sont arrivées plus tôt et n’ont pas duré bien longtemps.
well, my comments won’t surprise you – I love the stand of birches in the first shot. The panorama of the Appalachians and the plains is stunning. I also like the knot on the tree, second from the end. Great shots.
Thanks Jacqui. Actually, I thought of you when I took that the first picture. I even said to Pierre: “A shot for Jacqui” as I know you love birch trees as much as I do. The area around Parc du Mont-Megantic is absolutely lovely. We truly love that region which isn’t as visited as other regions in Quebec.
