Bonne visite!
Another weekend, another visit to a castle! In reality, it is mostly a visit to the park; but in France, the parks are often embellished with a castle! This one has the advantage of being 30 minutes in RER from our apartment, so quite easy to access. And the first time we had visited, it was enveloped as if it were a work by Christo while they were renovating it. This time, we could see the castle, visit its interior, and enjoy a great day to explore the park. Enjoy your visit!
The history of the Domaine de Sceaux dates from the 15th century, but it has seen many twists and turns. The construction of the castle we see today began in 1835 in the Louis XIII style. / The inside the castle was converted into a museum of the Ile-de-France where there is an exhibition of works relating to the region.C’est le printemps, comme en témoigne ce magnifique jardin de tulipes! / It is spring as the magnificent garden of tulips can testify! / The gardens were designed by André Le Nôtre. Embroidery, as seen in the foreground have been recreated last year for the celebration of the 400th birthday of the famous landscape architect. Very few tourists come to Sceaux. Yet, the gardens are as beautiful as those of Versailles!
The apple trees were at their peak of their bloom!

Thanks Linda. Yes, spring has arrived though I don’t think it ever left as we didn’t really have a winter this year…

Sitting here looking out at the rain feeling like spring is never going to arrive! Make the most of it for me!

I certainly will though we are going north for the Easter weekend so I think we will leave the spring behind us for a few days. Don’t despair, your spring will arrive soon…

Great post. I’ve put this on my list to see “next time!”

Thanks Kongo: It is very easy to get there: you take RER B to either Parc de Sceaux or Sceaux station (direction St-Remy or Robinson). From either stations, the Parc is sign-posted and it is only about a 10-12min walk. It is a nice place to spend a quiet afternoon to get away from the hustle and noise of Paris.
