Après la visite du Convento San Bernardino de Siena, nous sommes revenus à pied vers le centre historique de Valladolid. Comme bien des villes coloniales, Valladolid est construit sur le schéma d’un damier; il est donc difficile de s’y perdre! L’architecture est très rectangulaire et très colorée. Sous le brillant soleil des tropiques, les façades montrent bien leurs couleurs.
After visiting the Convento San Bernardino de Siena, we walked back to the historic centre of Valladolid. Like many colonial towns, Valladolid is built on a checkerboard pattern; it is therefore difficult to get lost! The architecture is very rectangular and very colorful. Under the brilliant tropical sun, the facades show well their colours.

Merci Anne Claire. Valladolid fut un coup de coeur; c’est vraiment une très jolie ville. Malheureusement, nous sommes de retour à Montréal depuis le 6 décembre mais nous avons bien profité de la chaleur et des couleurs du Mexique pendant les 28 jours de notre séjour. Nous espérons bien pouvoir repartir bientôt pour explorer d’autres endroits de ce beau monde.

J’avoue que voir toutes ces couleurs fait du bien quand cela fait 3 jours que nous sommes sous une pluie quasi discontinue. Merci partage.
Merci Marie. Comme j’ai mentionné à Anne Claire, Valladolid fut un vrai coup de coeur. Ces petites maisons colorées faisaient du bien au moral. Bien contente que ce billet ait put mettre un peu de baume dans vos journées pluvieuses. Nos meilleurs voeux pour la nouvelle année.
Lovely pictures of the town. As always, you captured the reality and the colour of the shops. I love the cost of the cabailero boxers – those ones at the top must be very special! My favourite is the picture of Pierre on those chairs. The chairs look like they are perfectly positioned for two people to have a good conversation and Pierre looks relaxed and happy. All he is missing is a glass of good wine.

I think you should bring the concept of the chairs to your yard this summer.
Interesting idea though I think our front yard is a bit too small to have such chairs…

Thank you for the virtual tour of Valladolid – such vibrant colours and interesting architecture. I’ve just looked it up as didn’t realise there was also a town of this name in Mexico. Guess it makes good sense considering the Spanish heritage!
Thanks Rosemary. In the Americas, we have a lot of cities that have taken their names from the “motherland” so I wasn’t surprised to find a Valladolid in Mexico. It was a very pretty town and truly enjoyed strolling randomly through its streets.
