One of the main reasons to go on a Southern Seas cruise is for the opportunity to see wildlife up close. On Westpoint Island, our favorite was the black-browed albatross. There was a nice colony on the cliff on the other side of the island and we spent a lot of time watching them fly and interact as pairs. We had our first encounter with penguins (Magellan and rockhopper) which are the stars of these southern cruises; but, on Westpoint Island, the colonies were too far away to observe them well. With the binoculars we could see them but it was difficult to take a picture of them. However, don’t worry; we had many opportunities to observe them very closely in several other places.

FABULOUS PICTURES!
Thanks Julia. Glad you enjoyed this series. More to come…
I wait with eager anticipation!
Wonderful photos! Birds are so difficult to photograph, too. You are making me interested in taking a cruise like yours.
Thanks for your note. We aren’t specialist of bird pictures but we were quite pleased with this series.
A cruise in the Southern Seas is certainly an experience of a last time. It doesn’t come cheap but it is well worth it. I would highly recommend it.
As usual, I am the armchair traveler with you. Your photography is getting better and better. It is difficult to capture birds and you did it well with these shots.
Thanks Jacqui. We are far from specialist of bird pictures but we were quite pleased with this series. We did bring our cameras and telephotos this time (not just the phone) so the photos have better definition.
Love all these bird photos! 🙂
Thanks Donna. Glad you enjoyed this series. We aren’t true birders but we do like to observe them…these ones were simply fascinating.
Fabulous photos!

Thanks Sherry. Glad you enjoyed this series. We aren’t expert in bird pictures but we were quite pleased with this series.
Such pretty birds!
Hope you’re both well. 🙂
Thanks for your note. The birds were fascinating and there are more posts coming. We are well and settling back home after being away for 3 months.
Beautiful image. Thanks Anita
